For more than two decades, Lu Liu has carried the pipa across concert halls, theaters, museums, and cultural spaces—creating music that brings tradition into vivid dialogue with the present.
Rooted in tradition.Alive to change.
Lu Liu is an award-winning pipa musician, composer, and interdisciplinary artist. Trained by Professor Yong Ge at the China Conservatory of Music, she was shaped early by the sound world of her grandparents, both distinguished performers of Peking Opera.
Her work blends the precision and expressive vocabulary of Chinese music with contemporary Western forms, improvisation, theater, dance, puppetry, and visual storytelling. She holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Management and approaches every performance as both an artist and a cultural bridge-builder.
